Is it safe to use cleaning fluid to clean darkened strap and dry clean the inside of Louis Vuitton vintage bag
My friend gave me her old Louis Vuitton bag but the handle straps had darkened and the inside lining had become grimy because of long use. I plan to use the usual cleaning gel or fluid to clean the straps and send it to the dry cleaner to clean the inside fabric lining. Can I do those without ruining the original bag?
The handles are natural cowhide leather, NO WAY should you use any fluid on them! You can NOT get the natual patina out of leather. You can buy a leather cleaner and try to just get the dirt off. You also can't dry clean the interior because it doesn't come out. Just take a damp cloth and wipe it out. You can bring the handbag to a Louis Vuitton store to have the handles replaced if they really bother you. It will run you around $150.00 depending on which style handles they are. DO NOT have anything replaced by anyone other than LV or you will completely ruin the value of the purse.
